Suzi is a Clinical Advisor to our maternity investigation programme in addition to her role as Consultant Obstetrician and Clinical Director for Patient Safety and Quality at The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
She’s been a consultant obstetrician for 13 years. During this time, Suzi’s been a delivery suite lead, simulation lead, postnatal lead, trust investigation training lead, trust quality improvement medical lead and gained extensive experience in serious incident investigation at trust level.
Her areas of particular interest are mothers with complex social needs, human factors, quality improvement and healthcare inequality. She is also a director of Women’s Reform, a community interest company that promotes advocacy for women facing the removal of their baby.
Suzi holds a research doctorate, a postgraduate certificate in human factors for healthcare, and master's degrees in clinical education and quality, safety and governance. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
